Swiftlet Sounds Collection for Bird House Success

Swiftlet Feeding and Roosting Times

Swiftlets leave their cave or swiftlet farm between 6 am to 7.00 am every morning in order to forage for food and fresh water and return to the vicinity of their homes around 3 pm to 4 pm to feed their young or to find their mates only to leave again and soar with the hot afternoon air towards the sky.

Swiftlets come home to roost between 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm. Once they are back in the cave or swiftlet farm, they usually mate, build nests and care for their young.

During the night, the male and female swiftlets cling together side-byside on the cave wall or on the specially prepared nesting planks.

When a nest is present, both male and female swiftlets cramp inside it, with their heads and bodies intimately pressed together.

Even after their nests have been removed, the male and female swiftlets will return to the exact site where their nests were previously located and make a new nest.
