The Nest Building and Breeding Cycles of Swiftlets
Generally speaking, both male and female swiftlets take part in the building of their nest. Nest building only occurs at night when the swiftlets come home to roost. After the nest is completed, the female swiftlet will lay 2 eggs which will later hatch and after one and a half months, the young swiftlets will be ready to fly off by themselves.
These Young Swiftlets take about 8 months to mature and begin to reproduce. Once they start nest building, the entire breeding cycle commences all over again.
