Swiftlet Sounds Collection for Bird House Success

Edible White Birds Nest Building

White edible birds nests are constructed of thin, irregularly shaped strands of edible salivary material that are deposited on top of each other to form a cup. These salivary strands are made up of complex glyco-protein, a base component that aids in human cell-regeneration.

Freshly secreted salivary nest-cement is soft and sticky but gradually dries up and hardens when exposed to air.

Layers upon layers of thin salivary strands are added everyday onto the nest, which is extended as the rim of a progressively enlarging, small half-cup shaped nest.

If the nest is harvested, then a new one will be constructed at the same site by the same pair of swiftlets.
